Create a folder
A folder you create is a real folder on that account. Other mail apps that see the account can see it too.
Create
Section titled “Create”Use one of these starts. They are alternatives, not steps in a sequence:
- Mailbox → Create Folder…
- Switch the sidebar to Classic (footer Smart | Classic), then right-click the account or an existing folder and choose New folder
Type a name and press Return. Primail does not add an INBOX.
prefix for you.
A slash in the name is sent as you typed it. Nesting only works
if that character is your provider’s folder separator. Do not
assume every provider treats Projects/Q2 as a nested folder.
Custom folders in Classic are listed as flat path labels, not an indented tree.
Move mail into a folder
Section titled “Move mail into a folder”- ⌘⇧M opens Move. Type to filter, then Return.
- Drag a list row onto a Classic folder.
- Right-click a message and choose Move to….
Read, flag, and pin state stay with the message. The destination must belong to the same account as the message.
Rename or delete
Section titled “Rename or delete”Right-click a custom folder (not Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Archive, Trash, or Junk):
- Rename folder
- Delete folder? — confirms, then deletes the folder and its messages on the server. There is no “move to Archive first” choice. The dialog says this cannot be undone.
Provider rules
Section titled “Provider rules”If the provider already files mail into that folder, Primail shows what lands there. Creating a folder does not create a filter.
Agents
Section titled “Agents”folder_create, folder_rename, and folder_delete are the
current MCP names. See the
MCP tool reference.
