Add more email accounts
Primail is a local multi-account client. There is no published Free / Pro / Team account limit and no subscription price. Approved commercial direction is a later App Store trial and one-time purchase; see Availability.
Add another account
Section titled “Add another account”- Click Add Account at the bottom of the sidebar, or open Settings → Accounts and use Add an account.
- Enter the address. Primail detects Google, Microsoft, iCloud, Migadu, or generic IMAP.
- Sign in with the provider flow or IMAP/SMTP password. See Connect your first email account.
Each account becomes a sidebar row with its own unread counts.
Adding an account verifies IMAP before the password is stored in the macOS Keychain. It does not create a Primail cloud login.
Unified and per-account views
Section titled “Unified and per-account views”- Cross-account Smart inbox and unified folder rows combine accounts that have Show in unified inbox on (Settings → Accounts → the account).
- Selecting one account in the sidebar shows only that mailbox.
- Search runs against the local index on this device.
Smart-folder queries are local. They do not roam through a Primail cloud account.
Account roles
Section titled “Account roles”A new account is personal with control scope all unless you
set another value at add time (CLI --role, or MCP account_add).
| Role | What Core does today |
|---|---|
| personal | Default. Send allowed, subject to control scope. |
| managed | Stored and listed. Send is not extra-gated today. |
| receive-only | Send blocked on every interface. |
The Settings account page shows the stored role when it is receive-only. Changing role or scope is a CLI/MCP settings update, not a Settings dropdown. See Account roles.
Reordering
Section titled “Reordering”Sidebar order on this Mac is a local layout. There is no Primail cloud that copies that order to other devices.
